Maintenance window
We are planning to roll out a change to permission management for the pretix backend. With this change, you will be able to manage permissions with more detailed control and more clarity on what users will be able to see and do. For example, new permissions will be added for certain areas of the backend that previously could not be controlled individually.
We plan to roll out this change without causing any interruption to system availability. However, out of caution in case something goes wrong, we have announced announcing a maintenance window today from 20:30 UTC to 22:30 UTC. Even if the system will be unavailable for parts of this time frame, we expect this to only affect the backend and the availability of ticket shops will not be impacted.
All existing users and teams will be converted to the new system with the equivalent level of permissions that they currently have. However, we have changed parts of the system to behave more logically, which can lead to new menu items being visible to some users after the change. For example, a user with access to all orders will now always be able to see the list of products (because they can see it through the orders and order search anyways), even though that menu item was previously hidden. Write access, as well as access rights to sensitive data such as order and voucher data remains unimpacted.
